Now we’re going to look atΒ what could be a heartbreaker … but it looks too good to pass up!

Award Winning author, Lizzy Ford, gives us an emotional, sexy read with her first Sons of War novel, SEMPER MINE.
A Marine captain tortured by the death of his men in Iraq returns home and falls in love with the sister of one of the slain, who blames him for the massacre that killed her brother. Β SEMPER MINE, is a standalone novel in the Sons of War contemporary military romance series.
βA freak accident landed both of the Khavalov twins under my command, just before a routine mission turned into a nightmare. I brought home one twin in a coffin and the other in a coma missing his leg. I did everything right β and still people died. I canβt forget that night or how many lives it changed, including mine.
Itβs natural for their sister, Katya, to blame me. I made one decision in the middle of a firefight, and it shattered her sheltered world. Iβm the ice to her fire, and when we first meet, itβs not pretty. I donβt fear war or death, and I am definitely not going to let a beautiful woman with a quick temper and broken heart scare me off, either. I know sheβs hurting, and Iβm determined to make sure sheβs okay. Itβs the least I can do for the twins.
I may have failed them that night, but I wonβt fail her. What Iβm not counting on: the feelings she ignites within me.β β Captain Sawyer Mathis
Also in the Sons of War series: SOLDIER MINE, coming fall 2014!

I Hate This Man
Opening the door, I spot the dress uniform of a Marine and frown, then look up at him.
Dark hair and eyes, olive complexion, heavy jaw, tapered nose, full lips and a low brow. He smells clean and of some light, sweet cologne that reminds me of coconuts. Heβs got the lean physique and wide upper body of a swimmer that Iβd drool over, if he were any other man.
βYou,β I hiss.
Captain Sawyer Mathis has an intensity and calmness around him that infuriates me,Β especially when I think of how detached and cold he was at Mikaelβs funeral, like saying
farewell to my brother was a chore. His brown eyes are on me. Heβs as handsome as he is good at taking out the men of my family. Why Petr and Baba like him, I have no idea.
βMaβam,β he replies.
βYou here to make sure my other brother ends up six feet under?β
βNo, maβam. Iβm here to check in on him.β
βThese are family only visiting hours.β I slam the door closed, or try to.
His foot is jammed in the door. βWith all due respect, maβam, your brothers saved myΒ life, which makes them more than family in my book.β
βWith all due respect, Captain, I think youβve done enough for my family.β
I swing the door open, realizing his foot isnβt about to budge. Planting my hands on myΒ hips, Iβm not about to move from the doorway.
Seeing him reminds me too much of Mikael and how Iβll never see my brother again. IβllΒ be damned if Iβm going to let the man who got Mikael killed come near my Petr.
Captain Mathisβ jaw is clenched. Iβm not sure what he can be thinking, but he sure as hell isnβt expressing anything that makes me think heβs more human than he was at Mikaelβs funeral. I donβt know why he bothered showing up that day.
βIf you want in, youβll have to move me out of the way,β I tell him.
βYou canβt weigh more than one thirty. Iβve carried packs heavier than you.β His gazeΒ sweeps over me. βIβll be out of your way in five minutes, maβam,β he adds calmly. βBut IΒ wonβt leave until I get that five minutes with your brother.β
βViolence and threats are the weapons of choice, I see. Guess it comes naturally toΒ someone who thinks invading some sovereign country over oil and getting innocent people killed is the right thing to do.β
A flare of something crosses his gaze and vanishes quickly. βAnd I imagine you thinkΒ saving the whales is more important than funding the equipment people like your brothers needed to stay alive in a hostile environment.β
βThere wouldnβt be a hostile environment if we had a policy of peace rather than war,β I
point out.
βI didnβt start the war, maβam, but I will win it so people like you can maintain your wayΒ of life.β
βYou arenβt going to win if you keep killing off your own men!β God, what an asshole!
We glare at one another, the air between us charged and thick. I hit a nerve with him and sense it. Iβm happy for it. I hate this man, because he came back when my Mikael didnβt. Not even Captain Mathisβ thick biceps and broad chest can make up for him being what he is: the representation of everything I despise about the military and war that took my brother away.
βStep aside, maβam.β The order is gravelly, low and quiet in the resolute tone of a natural leader. It cuts through my anger. His gaze is piercing. Heβs not like my brothers and father. Heβs not backing down.
