Athletic success, fake dates, endorsement deals. Evan Sinclair has everything he needs to maintain his image as a supermasculine, straight hockey player. But all his success is on the line once a blackmailer threatens to expose his sexuality. Having to rely on his former secret boyfriend is harder than Evan could have imagined. Because even after all these years, his attraction to Parker hasn’t faded.
The more time the two spend together for PR, the harder it becomes to resist each other. But Parker is determined never to let himself be so vulnerable around Evan again. Review:
While the writing was a little awkward in places and some of the logic didn’t play out quite right, I really enjoyed this one. I liked both Parker and Evan (as well as all of the supporting characters) and I felt for both of them as they struggled with what being gay meant for Evan’s hockey career.
Evan really struggled, and there was a lot of back and forth as he faced his fears of coming out with what that would mean for his career, his family, his team, and his friends. The poor man was a neurotic ball of stress. And poor Parker who couldn’t deal with what it meant 8 years ago, finding a way through it again.
This is the first for me from Wilms but it won’t be my last. It is steamy and a bit angsty and all sorts of emotional. I rooted for them from the first page to the last and I was so happy for them to find their HEA.
