The Last Goodbye

Blue Sky Bay #2

by Laura Pavlov

Blurb:

A Small Town, Enemies-to-Lovers Standalone Romance from USA Today and Amazon #1 Bestselling Author, Laura Pavlov.

Briar Sinclair is enemy number one.

She came to Blue Sky Bay with a multimillion-dollar plan and one goal: to buy my restaurant.

Too bad it’s not for sale.

She’s pulled every stunt in the book to get my attention, though I refuse to engage with a woman who came here to ruin my lifeβ€”no matter how relentless she is.

Unfortunately, my restaurant is the last thing standing in the way of her powerful father’s approval.

She’s determined to convince me that this is a good idea.

We can agree to disagree.

But that doesn’t mean I’m not enjoying the effort that she’s putting in.

One minute she’s arguing with me about real estate, the next she’s tripping outside my houseboat or falling asleep behind my restaurant after working herself to exhaustion.

Did I mention the fact that she’s insanely beautiful.

I should hate her for what she’s trying to do. Instead, I can’t stop noticing her pretty pink mouth or her sharp tongue.

The more we clash, the harder it becomes to remember that she’s the enemy.

Because somewhere between the arguments, late nights, and undeniable attractionβ€”Briar Sinclair stopped feeling like the woman trying to destroy my future…and she started feeling like she belonged in it.

Review:

The way Briar chose to get Bass to meet her the first time – all sassy and smart and stubborn, love it! And while Bass can be stubborn too, he’s not too stubborn to admit when he’s been wrong. (Apologizing might be a little harder for him πŸ˜‰ ) While The Last Goodbye may be a little enemies to lovers at first, it doesn’t stay that way for too long. But it does give us a bit of fun banter and sexual tension, then they move onto friendlier terms. Thanks to some past hurts, thom neither is really all that big on trust or relationships, plus their time together has an end date. Of course what starts off as something casual won’t stay that way for long …

Like all of Pavlov’s books, I love the found family aspect. Bass and his friends have created a wonderful little family unit amongst each other – supportive and loving. And they embrace Briar with open arms, once Bass gets over himself of course. She needs it too because without her mother and grandmother she’s been a little lost, trying hard to win the love & approval of her father. She’s put up with a lot from them, alone and without someone really on her side. Until Bass. And he’s going to show her exactly what it means to be truly supported.

With enjoyable but hurt characters, fun banter, and steamy moments, Pavlov once again delivers an enjoyable read. She’s got the small town, close knit group of friends romance thing down! But book after book she keeps it interesting and has me coming back time & time again.
