What are your favorite romances, and what influences have theyΒ had on your writingΒ
I really enjoyed The Bronze Horseman series by Paullina Simons, the first book inΒ particular. I admired the way she created such a tender and intense romance andΒ wove it so beautifully through the story of WWII Russia. Β And Iβve always liked A Room With A View by E.M. Forster. The character of GeorgeΒ was so extreme for the times he lived in, and I loved his honesty and his passion whenΒ he fell in love with Lucy.
Iβve always liked the little details in a story, like the way a character lights a cigarette. Β Or the scuffs on someoneβs shoes. Someoneβs choice of cover for their mobile phone. Β Theyβre small things that, for me anyway, give more life to a character; they tell youΒ something extra, and it makes the character more real, I think. So when I write, and IΒ see the characters so clearly in my imagination, some of those little details I see makeΒ it onto the page.
