Who plans a two-week engagement?
Itβs a valid question. But Claire Bronstadβa tenth-grade biology teacher and aspiring fictionΒ authorβ doesnβt have time to analyze it. Her flight home to Crawford Falls is in a few hours,Β and there is no way sheβs missing her brotherβs wedding. Her roommate, Greyson Westcott,Β apparently isnβt feeling that same time crunch, announcing heβd like to take their platonicΒ relationship to the next level. βIβve been thinking itβs time we start exploring us.β
Exploring us? Is that code for sex?
Another solid question. One Greyson answers with a passionate, toe-curling kiss. Oh, yes! Exploring the possibilitiesΒ could be simply scrumptious.
But is having sex with her closest friend a good idea?
Not without jeopardizing their friendshipβa risk Claire refuses to take. Reeling with uncertainty, she meets sexyΒ groomsman, Jesse Morland, and after a night of slow dancing, he has a question of his own:
βCome home with me tonight?β
As her feelings for Jesse grow, her friendship with Greyson unravels, leaving her grasping at threads and questioningΒ Greysonβs kiss and the authenticity of their relationship.
In the picturesque river town of Crawford Falls, Claire discovers that some memories are best left in the past. AndΒ some dreams were never meant for her future.

Excerpt:
βI do too date.β Jesse scowled across the table at Hawk, hoping for a little help fending off Claireβs rather pissed off bigΒ brother. But from the expression on Hawkβs face, it looked as if he agreed with Dylanβs assessment and that Jesse was onΒ his own here. He wished the girls were sitting with them in their big corner booth at the coffee shopβcertainly Lacey,Β Brynn, and Olivia would side with himβbut they were all deep in some conversation near the cash register. They keptΒ giving him sidelong glances from where they stood. So maybe they wouldnβt be on his side after all.
βNo, dude, you donβt,β Hawk said with a firm shake of his head.
Jesse glared at the big guy, letting his scowl deepen. βYou could help me out here.β
Hawkβs glare was just as intense, but it matched his badass attitudeβone that Jesse knew he could never pull off. βLook,
I am helping. Let me translate for you, huh? Dylan is just worried about Claire.β
βYeah, I fucking got that, friend.β Jesse picked up his coffee cup, shooting Hawk a dirty look before chugging the lastΒ sludge of coffee. Lukewarm but still filled with a blessed amount of caffeine that couldnβt be put to waste.
Hawk cocked his head to the side. βYou know, if I had a sister and you started looking at her, Iβd be worried, too.β
βReally?β Jesse asked, not bothering to hide his sarcasm.
βNo. Iβd bypass worry and kill you straight out.β Hawk broke out into a loud booming laughβa rarity these daysβbefore he retracted his statement. βSeriously, guys? Jesse, donβt get all upset before Dylan makes his point. And Dylan, getΒ on with, would ya?β Hawk rolled his eyes and eased back into the booth, taking his mug of coffee along with him, obviouslyΒ checking out as mediator of this conversation.
βThink about it, Jess,β Dylan said. βYou havenβt dated since Robin. Itβs like youβre worried that someone is going toΒ hurt you if you get too close.β
Jesse let out a slow breath and leaned back in his seat, watching as Lacey and Brynn made their way over to the table. βSo, whatβs your point?β he asked, sliding so that the girls would have a place to sit.
βYou just pick up women, sleep with them, dump them, and break their hearts.β Dylanβs words cut deep, but just aboutΒ summed up the past three years of Jesseβs sexual history. It sounded kind of bad when Dylan put it like that, and now JesseΒ wished Dylan would have chosen a more private place to have this conversation.
Jesse leaned forward, knowing he should somehow refute his friendβs recap. βThatβs not all true.β
Dylan snorted. βYeah, which part?β
βIβm honest right up front, so no oneβs heart gets broken.β Now all his friends were staring at him. Did that make him aΒ bad person? Obviously, his friends didnβt approve. βClaire and I had fun together over the weekend, and weβve talked onΒ the phone for a couple hours every night. Weβre just getting to know each other. Nothing wrong with that.β
βHurt my sister, and Iβll mess you up.β
βDuly noted.β
