Ya’ll, I am SUPER excited about this one.Β I absolutely adore Jill Shalvis’s books, especially her “Lucky Harbor” series, and today we get to spend a little time with her as she answers a few questions about her newest, Once in a Lifetime.Β

Q&A with Jill Shalvis
What scene did you have the most fun writing?
Oh I have quite a few from this book! When Aubrey throws her drink in Benβs face, when she runs and hides out in an AA meeting and makes friends with the pastor, when Ben figures out sheβs writing a list of people sheβs wronged and he wonders that itβs not a lot longer than it is, when Aubrey gets a little tipsy and throws rocks at Benβs window like a scene right out of the Say Anything movie β¦
Describe Aubrey a sentence
Aubrey: her heartβs in the right spot but she doesnβt like to lead with it, if that makes any sense.
Aubrey inherits a cat named Gus, who has quite the personalityβwas he inspired by a real life cat?
He was inspired by my own Satanβer, Sadie, who believes she is the queen of all humans.
Aubrey has some scandalous photos from her college days surface in her exβs tell-all. Is there are anything from your past you wouldnβt want to see the light of day (but that youβre willing to share with us)?
Alpha Man has a photo on his phone that he snapped just as I was flipping him off. Iβm not super proud of that moment, which of course is why he has it as my photo id when I call himβ¦
What can your fans look forward to next in the Lucky Harbor series?
Next up is a Lucky Harbor trilogy for this coming summer and fall, Itβs In His Kiss, Heβs So Fine, and Once In A Million, the stories of the three sexy hot guys who run Lucky Harbor Charters.

SOMETIMES WRONG IS OH-SO-RIGHT
After a wrenching loss, Ben McDaniel tried to escape his grief by working in dangerous, war-torn places like Africa and the Middle East. Now he’s back in his hometown and face-to-face with Aubrey Wellington, the hot-as-hell woman who is trouble with a capital T. Family and friends insist she’s not the one to ease his pain, but Aubrey sparks in intense desire that gives Ben hope for the future.
Determined to right the wrongs of her past, Aubrey is working hard to make amends. But by far, the toughest challenge to her plan is sexy, brooding Ben – even though he has absolutely no idea what she’s done . . .
Can this unlikely couple defy the odds and win over the little town of Lucky Harbor?

Excerpt:
It was dark outside when she got back to the Book & Bean, and she stopped short just outside the door. Sheβd locked up when she left and turned off the lights.
But the door was unlocked now, and the lights on. She went still, then pulled out her phone and dialed 9-1-1. She didnβt hit send but kept her thumb hovered over call. Taking a step inside, she paused. βHello?β
βHey.β
The low, slightly rough voice wasnβt what had her heart pumping. That honor went to the fact that there was a man on a ladder in the back of her store.
Ben.
He was in jeans with a tool belt slung low on his hips, his t-shirt clinging to him. He seemed a little irritated, a little sweaty, and just looking at him Aubrey got a whole lot hot and bothered in places that had no business being hot and bothered by this man at all. βWhat are you doing in here?β she asked.
βI work here.β
βWhat are you talking about? Get out.β
βSorry, Sunshine.β He wasnβt even looking at her, but using some sort of long, claw-like tool to pull down a ceiling tile above the wall sheβd been working on. And his tool worked way better than hers.
His movements were agile and surprisingly graceful for a guy his size. Not that he was bulky in any way. Nope, that tall, built body was all lean, tough muscle, and it screamed power. And with each subtle movement, his body made it clear that it knew exactly what to do with all that power. βThe owner of this building hired me,β he said. βSaid you were making a mess of things because your pride was bigger than your wallet.β
This caught her completely off guard, both the insult and the information. βMy uncle owns this building,β she said.
He smiled thinly. βYep. Happy Birthday.β
βItβs not my birthday.β
βThen happy youβve-got-a-great-uncle day.β
