Brannon McKay spent the last ten years fantasizing about Hannah. In his mind, heβs explored every passionate scenario he can think of while, in real life, Brannon took their budding relationship and threw it away with both hands. Hannah doesnβt remember what happened but now that she is awake, Brannon would rather die than watch her walk away again. When Hannah and his unborn childβs lives are threatened, Brannon must stake claim to the woman who has held his heart captive for yearsβ¦or risk disaster tearing them apartβ¦
This is one of those times when not reading the first book in a series might have been a detriment.Β Walker does a good job of filling readers in on the pertinent details of what happened but I think that there are some nuances that are missed.Β Actually, I have no idea how much of an overflow there is between the two, Iβm just guessing based on how much of book 2 I think will impact book 3 and how much I felt like I was missing having only read this book.Β And Iβm warning you now that not everything is wrapped up nicely β it is going to be a requirement to read the next book in order to continue some of the plot lines.Β Thereβs an unsolved mystery as well as the next romance, which has already been introduced.
The relationship between Hannah and Brannon is addressed completely, though, and very enjoyably.Β We start the book with Brannon finding out about Hannahβs accident and his realization of how much she means to him.Β But her amnesia, and the possibility that someone wants her dead, leaves him with a whole mess of complications.Β And as someone who doesnβt do relationships heβs not really set-up to handle it well π Β The threat to Hannah takes up a good portion of the story (and, again, it isnβt resolved so be prepared to read more than this book) but Walker doesnβt ignore their romantic troubles.Β All of it is blended together very well and none of it feels short-changed.
The mystery is vague, with Walker giving you just enough to have you guessing. And since it is unsolved you do feel a little lost at the end as you wait for the next story.Β But because we get Gideon & Moiraβs voices here with a look into their history, thatβs going to bring you back for The Right Kind of Trouble as much as finding out who the bad guy is.Β Wow, those two have a lot of hurts to handle π
