Crazy in Love

Rosewood River series

by Laura Pavlov

Blurb:

Emilia Taylor hates me, which is absolutely fine by me, because I donโ€™t particularly care much for her either.

Maybe I took things too far, but I decided she was the enemy a long time ago, and she gave me no reason to think differently.

At least not until recently.

And when she sets her mind to prove me wrong, she goes all in.

Iโ€™m willing to admit when Iโ€™m wrongโ€”because it sure as hell doesnโ€™t happen very often.

But being vulnerable with a woman who I was convinced was out for my family was a big pill to swallow.

So, Iโ€™d rather send her a fancy gift and call this vendetta done.

However, she is anything but predictable.

She doesnโ€™t want a fancy gift from a man who sheโ€™s declared a broody, heartless billionaire.

Her words not mine.

And itโ€™s not like you can send flowers to a woman who owns a floral shop.

She wants a sincere apology instead but that may be more than I can give.

Sheโ€™s sunshine and rainbows, and Iโ€™mโ€ฆ well not.

But when the first tear rolls down her cheek, I swear something inside me cracks.

Turns out, my cold jaded heart still works.

Apparently, it beats for the one woman I never saw coming.

Review:

I was a little nervous about this one because Bridger straight up bullied Emilia over the Taylor Tea stuff but I had faith that Pavlov could turn it around and she did. I came out appreciating Bridger’s grumpy self and how he loves his family, and loves big, but is obviously dealing with a lot. (I originally thought that someone should have pushed him into addressing that earlier but in reality he had to want to before it would actually do any good.)

Emilia is also dealing with a lot, with Bridger but also her own family. And I think that explains a lot about why she reacted to Bridger the way she did. I was there tho for her as she finally found her voice with ALL of them. She deserves so much more from so many people.

Crazy in Love is a slow burn, with an enemies-to-lovers thing going on. That’s not usually my thing but I really liked the way this one played out. The banter is well done (it has a very Pavlov feeling) and the transition of their feelings is organic. I really liked how the third act issues are resolved (although maybe a bit more from Emilia’s mother would have been nice … I mean, ugh, that woman!) and their path to a HEA worked.

Part of a series but can be read on its own. Although you’ll appreciate these people even more for having read the rest ๐Ÿ™‚

Over the Moon

Rosewood River series

by Laura Pavlov

Blurb:

Hockey is my first love. And Iโ€™m coming offย theย best season of my life.

Inย theย process of scoringย theย winning goal that gave usย theย Stanley Cup I tore my MCL, and Iโ€™ll need to spendย theย next few months recovering.

Eloise Gable,ย theย teamโ€™s new physical therapist, has been sent to Rosewood River to help me heal and get me ready forย theย new season.

Yet, she doesnโ€™t seem all too happy aboutย theย situation.

In fact, she canโ€™t stand me most days.

It doesnโ€™t stop me from staring at her any chance I get.

Sheโ€™s beautiful and brilliant, but sheโ€™s got her guard upย theย minute I get close.

Eloise is a distraction I wasnโ€™t prepared for.

Did I mention that sheโ€™s also my coachโ€™s daughter?

But after a long run together inย theย summer heat, our built up tension snapped.

We end up stripping down and jumping inย theย river.

It seemed likeย theย logical thing atย theย time.

Theย problem is, Eloise Gable is completely off limits.

But Iโ€™m a professional hockey player, and in my world, limits were meant to be pushed.

Hockey may be my first love, but after falling for my coachโ€™s daughterโ€”itโ€™s definitely not my last.

Review:

**minor spoilers**

Is this a hockey romance? Probably not enough for those looking for one. Is it a romance involving a hockey player? Yes, indeed, and one where when he finally falls he falls hard. Not that he was a player, more just one that didn’t have serious relationships. But his momma taught him right and he proves himself to be supportive & caring.

While the first part is all sorts of fun & flirty & slowly falling in love, once they get home there are complications with the team. While we pretty much know how things are going to play out, telegraphed well in advance, it still works for me. And when their secret is revealed some people prove themselves to be good eggs and some are very, very definitely rotten.

Seeing Clark in his element, both in his hometown and at the arena, is great and Eloise fits in perfectly. The friendship that develops between her and the girls is sweet, especially the way they (along with Clark) support her when she needs it. I love the Chadwicks. They are quirky and funny and full of big personalities, and the way the family opens their arms and embraces everyone brings all the feels. I enjoy coming back to them time & again.

(There are a few moments with Bridger, who is the hero for the next story, where he crosses a line into bullying. He’s got a backstory there that is interesting and I’m going to trust Pavlov to bring a good story but it may be difficult for some.)

My Silver Lining

Rosewood River series

by Laura Pavlov

Blurb:

Lulu Sonnet is the bane of my existence.

Sheโ€™s caused me more physical pain than any man should ever endure.

From an accidental throat punch to a near death by shovelโ€”

Donโ€™t even get me started on that vicious pool ball accident where she almost robbed me of my family jewels.

Sheโ€™s a hot little heathen, and whatโ€™s worse?

Sheโ€™s staying in my brotherโ€™s rental house while Iโ€™m temporarily living in the guest house.

And now she needs a favor.

A fake boyfriend.

Iโ€™ll dote on her for a few weeks, sheโ€™ll return the favor so my bossโ€™s daughter will stop nagging me, and then weโ€™ll part ways.

It seems simple enough.

Until we end up in the same shower.

And then the same bed.

The lines are blurring.

Sheโ€™s beautiful and fierce and sexy all at the same time.

But Lulu isnโ€™t staying in Rosewood River forever.

The place I call home is just a pitstop for her.

But suddenly everything I thought I wanted is no longer important to me.

My fake girlfriend has turned my world upside down.

And now nothing feels right without her.

Review:

Pavlov has become one of those writers that I trust is going to give me a book I love. I was a little hesitant with Lulu – I’m not always a fan of the prickly, black catty kind of heroines – but I adored her. She’s feisty, sassy, and complicated. Her interactions with Rafe are entertaining and they fit together so well as their fake relationship develops into something more real. And speaking of Rafe, he makes a pretty darn good fake boyfriend. And an even better real one. He’s good for Lulu, supporting her and centering her with she needs it. I loved it.

Steal My Heart

Rosewood River #1

by Laura Pavlov

Blurb:

Henley Holloway is my bossโ€™s daughter and Iโ€™ve been assigned to mentor her.

The problem is, Iโ€™m not looking to babysit anyone.

But Iโ€™m determined to make partner at the firm, and this is the final obstacle in my way.

So, I agree to take the little princess under my wing.

Iโ€™ll work her so hard, sheโ€™ll beg me to leave her alone.

But from the first day she walks into the office and spills scalding hot coffee on my chestโ€”Iโ€™m intrigued.

Sheโ€™s a Harvard grad.

Her work ethic rivals mine.

Sheโ€™s witty and funny and beautiful all at the same time.

I donโ€™t want to like her.

I have a hard and fast rule about relationships, and I will not break it with my bossโ€™s daughter.

Thatโ€™s a hard no.

But sheโ€™s everywhere I turn, and I canโ€™t seem to get enough.

Werenโ€™t rules meant to be broken anyway?

From the moment we cross the lineโ€”Iโ€™m done for.

Henley Holloway has seeped her way into my heart, one that I didnโ€™t even know still worked.

But sometimes loving someone isnโ€™t enough.

Iโ€™m living proof of that.

Review:

**slight, kinda, sorta spoilers ahead**

I love Henley! She’s smart, sassy, and emotionally mature. She does have some issues from her childhood but she recognizes them. I know that some didn’t like the way she put up with Easton’s waffling (and boy does he run hot & cold) but I took it more like she was doing her and letting him do him.

And he does him all over the place. The man definitely fights his attraction to Henley, not wanting to take the chance of endangering his heart. It can be frustrating but with the help of his family he eventually figures things out.

Speaking of family. Cutler is an adorable kid, and I loved him from the Magnolia Falls series, but … I don’t know. Having him deliver these life lessons was a bit much. They were things that needed to be said and realizations that needed to happen but having them come from a kid … I did appreciate that therapy played a strong part in the story and the characters traumas are addressed. I love that authors are normalizing talking to professionals.

I really like Pavlov’s writing. She delivers such easy reads with depth and characters that I want to get to know better. I’ve enjoyed the couple of books that I’ve read so far and I’m looking forward to more in this series.
