Tinsel & Tools

by Kimberly Knight & Rachel Lyn Adams

Blurb:

Cole Maddox isn’t looking for romance. After a painful betrayal ends his marriage, he returns to his small hometown to work alongside his dad and keep his life simple. He knows his way around every tool in the box, but nothing prepares him for the writer from New York who tempts him with things he never imagined.

Gavin Price used to believe in love stories. Now he’s grieving the loss of his parents, staring at a blank page, and wondering if he’ll ever write again. Inheriting a rundown inn in snowy New England feels like one more burden, until the straight handyman renovating it helps him find inspiration.

As their connection deepens, Gavin’s work begins to blur the line between fiction and reality. The story he’s writing could expose the secret relationship they’ve tried to keep hidden, and Cole isn’t sure if risking his heart is worth it when privacy is no longer certain.

Under the glow of twinkling lights and tinsel, a small-town handyman and a big city author might just discover that the best stories aren’t the ones you plan, but the ones that linger long after the last page.

Tinsel & Tools is a holiday MM romance full of opposites attract tension, forced proximity, blue-collar heat, and a bi-awakening that turns a season of repair into a season of love.

Review:

Tinsel & Tools is a cute, small town romance with humor, steam, and holiday fun. I enjoyed Cole’s bi-awakening and his developing relationship with Gavin. They make a good opposites attract pairing with a touch of insta-love.

I did have a few issues. I know everyone’s journey is their own, but Cole seemed a little too quick to be ok with getting sexually involved with a man. I would have thought there would be more contemplation of his new feelings and attraction. And how are we OK with outing someone else, especially someone just exploring a change in sexuality? Totally not cool! Cole is completely in his rights to be upset and these people should know better. And I’m not 100% sure they really understand that.

While I enjoyed it overall, I am knocking down this sweet steamy romance a little for bad behavior by some people who I would have expected better from.

Knox

The Comeback Duet Part Two

by Kimberly Knight & Rachel Lyn Adams

From USA Today bestselling authors Kimberly Knight and Rachel Lyn Adams comes the heartfelt conclusion to the Comeback Duet. Knox delivers a steamy, found-family MM baseball romance where love in the spotlight collides with family tensions and an injury that could cost them everything.

Blurb:

Being with Crew is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Even better than getting called up to the majors. We may have started as a fling, but he’s my end game now, the part of everything I want beyond baseball.

There’s another guy in his life now, though, and he’s making up for lost time with his son Grady. I’ve been trying to find my place with them, and most days I think I have. Other days, it’s hard to ignore how Crew might want something easier for him and his son, a future without hotel rooms, stadium lights, and road games.

When Grady’s mom gets into a car accident, everything becomes more uncertain. None of us know if she’s going to make it, and I can’t stop thinking about the choices Crew may need to make and what that’ll mean for us. If he walks away from the game to focus on his son, I’m not sure if there’s still a place in his world for someone who’s gone half the season.

Losing them would wreck me, and if they’re no longer mine, there’s no comeback from that.

Review:

I wrote in my review for Crew that I didn’t want any more drama for these two and I pretty much go what I asked for. It’s overflowing with steam and feels as the two of them try to find their footing with their relationship, their jobs, and Crew’s son. There is very little angst but just a slow burn as they struggle to figure out how everything fits together, often feeling like something has to give.

Especially Crew as he tries to make up for lost time with his son as well as help Mallory after the accident that was the cliffhanger for book 1. He wants to be with Crew and play baseball and be there with Grady and with Mallory but with spring training starting, and then the season, he’s away as much as he is home and he is stuh-ruhg-ling. He’s just not sure how he can balance everything without feeling like he’s missing out or letting someone down.

Unfortunately it often leaves Knox feeling a little on the outside. He’s a great boyfriend, and is wonderful with Grady, but so much has happened so quickly that he doesn’t always know how he fits. But that doesn’t stop him from jumping in with both feet and doing everything he can to support this little family they are making. Together, with the help of friends and family, surely they can figure it out.

It’s a good ending to their story, and I felt satisfied with where it took them, but I’m not sure it’s going to be for everyone. Especially when compared to Crew. This one still has all the emotions, but they are quieter than the gut punch that the first one was at times 🙂

Crew

The Comeback Duet Part One

by Kimberly Knight & Rachel Lyn Adams

Blurb:

Baseball means everything to me. I’ve worked my whole life to make it to the majors, putting in the hours to improve my game, and sacrificing nearly everything along the way. Including being honest about who I am.

Then the rookie, Knox Singleton, showed up.

We told ourselves it was just a fling, that we were just having a good time. But it stopped feeling casual a lot faster than I expected.

When he got traded mid-season, I tried to play it cool. Pretended like I didn’t have feelings for him. We agreed to move on, but I still thought about him often.

Now we’re teammates again on a brand-new expansion team in Portland, and it’s as though things never ended between us.

He’s still the guy who makes everything feel effortless.

The guy I’ve never stopped thinking about.

This time, I don’t want to hide who I am. I want him, and I want the world to know.

Just when I’m ready to come out, my past throws a curveball I never saw coming.

And nothing will ever be the same.

Review:

At first Knox and Crew get involved in a sexual relationship but it doesn’t take them long to become friends and then something more. Life throws them a curve ball tho with a trade for Knox to a new city just when they were starting to develop feelings for each other. And it just … sucks! It hurt me to see them face up to the idea that it ended just when it was starting. And oh my heart as they have to deal with their separation. And when things change yet again … so sweet!

This is the first for me from either of these authors and I enjoyed it bunches. It’s got a lot of steam but there are feels too. I will say, I’m not sure where we’re going to go from here. Crew and Knox have already been thru so much and it is going to break my heart if they have more struggles between them as a couple. I get that there may be some issues with their careers or families or whatnot but I really want them to be able to settle into a HEA together. No more drama for their relationship! 🙂
