Princess Perripraxis not only has to find a fiancé—and fast—she’s got to find one who doesn’t mind that her “no makeup” face has green and purple scales. Otherwise, Daddy Dearest has plans that don’t include Perri’s compliance. Candidate Number One: Her sexy human best friend, Brandt.

Bartender Brandt Turner didn’t need all those years in the army to teach him never to leave a man behind. Or an alien princess in need of a pretend fiancé. If she needs someone to play the lovesick fool to convince her dad to let her stay on Earth, well then, he’ll let the world think Cupid finally took him out.

But Perri’s father has no intention of playing nice—and he’s not above cruel and unusual alien torture to make things go his way. But Brandt is willing to complete the mission…however far he has to go.

Excerpt:

“I’m here. And I’m not going to let anything hurt you. You know that, right?”

“Yeah.” Her breathing started to slow. “Yeah, I know.”

He reached over and took her hand. “Whoever it was in that dream? They are never going to hurt you again. Never. I don’t care who they are or how many soldiers they have at their back or whatever type of crazy alien monster they fight for fun on their home planet. They don’t get to hurt you ever again. Do you understand me?”

“Yes.” She sniffled and his chest tightened. “Brandt?”

“Yeah?”

“Would you stay with me? Just until I fall back to sleep? You don’t—”

His heart began to thump painfully at the fear that lingered in her voice. This was a bad idea. Being her friend meant not getting into a position where his inner asshole could take over. He needed to keep that part of himself on a leash, and climbing into bed with a beautiful, vulnerable alien princess wearing nothing but one of his T-shirts and a pair of teeny-tiny little shorts? That was a road straight to hell for his intentions.

But whatever was waiting for her in that dream? It had her scared. Terrified her. And if that meant he had to man up and be a big damn hero? He’d do it, and he’d keep his thoughts as pure as an altar boy at the same time.

Thankfully, he was pretty sure altar boys were just as pervy as other kids, they just kept it under wraps. And he could do that.

“Budge over,” he said, and squeezed her hand again.

“And keep your snoring to a minimum. Some of us need to get our beauty sleep.”

“I don’t snore,” she retorted, chuckling.

“No, you just do chain saw imitations in your sleep,” he teased as he lifted the sheet and slid into his suddenly-much too-small bed beside her.

She rolled over so that she was facing him, and he slid his arm underneath her neck, pulling her close so he could cradle her.

“Brandt?”

“Yeah?”

“Thanks for this,” she said as she settled her head on his chest.

“For cuddling you? No problem. I’m a man who loves his cuddles. Serious cuddle addict right here. I should be the one thanking you. And just so you know, tomorrow I’m going to want to sit down over tea and discuss our feelings and coordinate manicures. And pedicures. Oh, and I’m so going to need my hair braided. You can’t let me down now.”

“Asshole,” she squeaked.

He stared down at her and knew his mouth was hanging open in surprise at the insult. He’d never even heard Perri say “crap” before. “Was that your first cuss word?”

“Maybe. Why? What’s wrong with it?”

“Not a thing.” He smiled as he stared up at the ceiling and tried his hardest not to pet her hair. “I was just curious.”

“Brandt?”

“Yeah?”

“You’re not really going to make me drink Earth tea and paint my nails tomorrow, are you? I’m really not good with that whole polish thing. It seeps through my outer skin and stains my tentacles and clogs my pores and it really itches.”

“Fine.” He let out a dramatic sigh. “I guess we can skip that part, if it’s that big of an issue. But I want you to know without the talking and the tea and the manicures this now feels just a little bit cheap and tawdry. But I’ll endure.”

“Thank you, Brandt.”

He gave up his resistance and brought his right hand across his chest to smooth her hair while his left hand rested on her lower back. “No problem, sweetheart.”

patricia-eimerAuthor Info:

Patricia Eimer is a suburban mom who has days where she feels like she’s barely hanging on. She currently lives in eastern Pennsylvania with her two wonderful kids and a husband that learned the gourmet art of frozen pizzas to give her more time to write. When she’s not writing—or shuttling her children to a hundred different places a day– she can be found trying to cook (and sometimes blowing up hard boiled eggs), reading and arguing with her dogs about plot points. Most days the Beagle wins but the Dalmatian is in close second and her mastiff puppy is making a break for the inside. Patricia meanwhile is a longshot fourth.

When she’s not writing she can be found on Facebook, at her website (www.patriciaeimer.com) or blogging about her attempts at cooking and her complete inability to craft as a contributor to the Suburban Flail Blog (www.suburbanflail.com). She is also a connoseiur of really bad science jokes.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, Patricia Eimer

This morning we welcome author Patricia Eimer as she talks about her favorite part of romance novels and shares with us her newest book, Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead.

*****

Since I’m a romance author with  7 (it’s hard to believe that number is right but I’ve checked and it is) published romance novels to my name and another 4 contracted people sometimes ask me what my favorite part of romance novels is—both to read and to write. Most people assume it’s the sex. Heck, if you’d have asked me years ago when I was too young to really understand romance novels I would have told you it was the sex. The secret, hidden part that you aren’t supposed to tell anyone about.

Then I grew up. I had relationships. I got married. I had a couple of kids and suddenly romance novels weren’t illicit anymore. No one was scandalized that I knew what sex was. Which, now that I think about it is something of a disappointment. I want to scandalize people. I didn’t enjoy that power when I had it. But alas, scandal is hard to do when you’re a middle aged suburban mommy and what I enjoy most about romance novels isn’t the sex. Heck, I can find that on prime time telly now.

What I enjoy most about romance novels is the first time the hero and the heroine meet. That first instant that they latch eyes on each other and everything goes wrong.

What? I can hear you say. That’s not how it happens. Their eyes lock and… Now you’re going back to your romance novels and going wait a second—it does always go wrong before we get to the sexy parts. Usually heroes and heroines are sure that the last person they’d be happy with is each other. They spill scalding coffee on each other or catch their future love in the arms of a married partner or one of them falls in a gopher hole and breaks an ankle. And usually—even in the most serious of romance novels that first moment is funny. Not always ha ha funny sure but still at least worthy of one of those cringe worthy “I’m so glad it’s you and not me” chuckles.

I love that about romance novels. Because I don’t know about you, but I’ve never really had a cringe worthy introduction to a lover. I’ve been introduced by friends, had them buy me drinks and we’ve chatted. I once met a man I dated for over a year while we were both buying milk in the checkout line of a gas station. My husband and I? We went to high school together and were on the same track team. He stammered the first time he invited me to a movie. Not exactly Hollywood material.

Don’t get me wrong. I love my husband. I adore my husband. After all these many years together I can honestly tell you that George Clooney and Brad Pitt could show up and one could rub  my feet while the other hand fed me artisanal swiss chocolate while we watched Channing Tatum and Chris Hemsworth did a strip tease and afterwards Tom Hiddleston sang me love songs and recited Shakespeare and I would still go home with my husband at the end of the night. Sure, I’d take the chocolate with me, and I’d probably be a few (hundred) dollars lighter in the savings account but not even all of Hollywood’s hottest could make me want to stray.

But we are not the stuff romance novels are wrote about. We’re ordinary. Just like I’d want us to be. And I’m sure just like most of you are all happy to be. But when I read a romance novel for just the length of that book I want something more and for me it always starts right about the time the heroine accidentally dumps burning hot coffee all over the hot young guy on the subway next to her.

Not Even Death Keeps a Good Demoness Down

There’s never an end to the crazy when you’re demon spawn. Not that Faith Bettincourt’s complaining. Oh, and Faith is saving kids from Death in her pediatric unit one soul at a time. Life is good.

Until Faith accidentally runs over the Angel of Death and is forced to take his place. Now she’s taking lives instead of saving them. Which is kind of a problem when you’re a nurse. As if that weren’t bad enough, she is suddenly thrust into the worst scenario of them all–Matt’s ex Brenda is back, and she’s brought the Apocalypse with her.

Faith’s not about to give up the world…or her man. But when the chips are down, what’s a demoness supposed to do? Besides take matters into her own hands, of course.

Today we get a chance to look at the finale of two delicious paranormal romance series – Call of the Siren, the final novel in Rosalie Lario’s epic “Demons of Infernum” series and Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, the awesome conclusion to the “Speak of the Devil” trilogy, by Patricia Eimer.

*****

“Paranormal romance readers should definitely hop on this thrill-ride of a series…” – Night Owl Reviews – Top Pick!

DEMONS OF INFERNUM Series Overview

The DEMONS OF INFERNUM  is a paranormal romance series featuring four brothers who are interdimensional bounty hunters. Set in modern-day New York City, it features a world very much like our own…with one exception. Supernatural beings roam the streets, undetected by most humans. They aren’t the stuff of horror stories—at least not in the traditional sense. They’re species from other dimensions who have traveled to Earth via portals. Most are law-abiding citizens, but every now and again a fugitive goes on the loose…and that’s where our heroes come in.

Bred to be genetically superior by their demon father, Keegan, Taeg, Ronin, and Dagan are hybrids. Each bears unique genetic makeup, yet the four are similar in their loyalty for one another. But as the brothers battle a growing evil, they will each meet their perfect match. They will find their loyalty—and love—put to the ultimate test.

CALL OF THE SIREN is the epic conclusion to the Demons of Infernum series!

Publication: March 25th, 2014 by Entangled Select

The half-siren half-demon bounty hunter Dagan Meyers swore he’d never settle down. His older brothers might’ve adjusted well to family life but tying himself to one woman is so not Dagan’s bag. Until he meets the gorgeous angel Lina, his brother Ronin’s long-lost adopted sister, and he can’t think of being with anybody but her. Too bad Ronin’s well aware of Dagan’s party-boy lifestyle and won’t let him anywhere near his angelic baby sister.

Lina is still getting over the abandonment issues that began when she was orphaned as a child and has devoted her life to taking down evil Otherworlders. The last thing she wants is to develop feelings for man she knows will eventually leave her, too. But as the battle against a growing darkness continues—a powerful fae who’s harnessed untold power—Dagan and Lina find that love may be their greatest weapon against the very thing that threatens to destroy them all.

RosalieAuthor Info:

Rosalie Lario is the award-winning, paranormal romance author of the Demons of Infernum and the Fallen Warriors series. Rosalie double majored in Anthropology and Classics as an undergraduate student, and briefly considered becoming an archaeologist before realizing they don’t actually live the life of Indiana Jones. So what was a classical geek armed with a lot of useless knowledge to do? Become a lawyer, of course!

After attending law school in Florida, she practiced real estate law for several years before finally admitting to herself that negotiating contracts wasn’t nearly as fun as dreaming up stories. She never imagined all the mythology she’d learned throughout her undergraduate education might actually come in handy, but it makes perfect fodder for the paranormal romance stories she now dreams up.

When not writing, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children in their home state of Florida.

“Ms. Eimer’s twist on God and the Devil is genius. . . . Luck of the Devil is pure entertainment with satirical religious undertones that yield uncontrollable, giggles-worthy hilarity that simply adds to the fun.” – Renee C. Fountain, New York Journal of Books

Speak Of The Devil Trilogy Overview

SPEAK OF THE DEVIL is a paranormal romantic comedy series that follows the Devil’s youngest daughter Faith Bettincourt as she tries to build a lasting relationship with Matt Andrews, the sexy nephilim next door. Can these two find a way to defeat their crazy families, a group of homicidal pixies, and the start of the Apocalypse and still get Happily Ever After? Or are they doomed to be on opposite sides of the good and evil fence for all eternity?

BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU’RE DEAD is the amazing conclusion to the Speak of the Devil trilogy!
