Excerpt:

As he approached the far end of the parking lot, his headlights illuminated Zurie’s Mercedes in her reserved space. She was just getting out of her car.

Mace backed in beside her, turned off the engine and got out of the truck.

Lights from the porch of the guesthouse helped lessen the shadows.

Surprise and something he couldn’t place was on Zurie’s face. “Mace, what are you doing here?”

“You forgot something.”

“What?”

“An explanation for why you kissed me.”

“Isn’t it obvious?”

Not in the mood to guess or try to figure her out, he got straight to the point. “No. It isn’t. You either liked kissing me or you didn’t. Which is it?”

“Does it matter? You said it was no big deal.” She gave a shrug of indifference, but the slight hitch in her voice indicated the opposite.

“I know I said that, but I was wrong.” Mace stepped closer to Zurie. “You kissing me, it matters.”

“That kiss. It can’t happen again.”

“If that’s what you want.”

“She closed her eyes and shook her head. “Why did you have to follow me?”

Chances. He’d taken more than his share in his life. But answering her question was one of the biggest ones yet. “I liked kissing you. And I wanted you to know that.”

Her long lashes raised from her cheeks, and what they revealed took his breath away. Before he could recover, she gripped his arms and sealed her mouth to his. As she parted her lips, he glided in, tasting the desire he’d witnessed a minute ago in her eyes.

His heart went haywire.

Mace curved his hands to her waist, bringing her closer, and need hummed through his veins as he explored the curves and hollows of her mouth.

If only he had more time.

Breakup Bash series

by Nina Crespo

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Blurb:

Cori Ross is thanking her lucky stars. Sure, her long-time boyfriend just dumped her, but that’s a good thing. In her rush to find Mr. Right, she realizes she almost settled for Mr. Just Okay. And that’s definitely not okay. So, tonight, she’s out with her friends at the Breakup Bash—a private party for women celebrating their break-ups—and she’s actually celebrating. Still, it was too close a call. So she makes a deal with herself—no guys for six months.

Unfortunately, just as she’s leaving the club, she runs into her old boyfriend, Grey Latham—the guy she’d always wanted to be Mr. Right. Great. What a time to swear off guys. Maybe she needs to change the deal—no relationships for six months. There’s no reason why she can’t have a fling, right? Because Grey still holds the title of the best sex she’s ever had.

There’s no way this could go wrong. Grey is on his way to international DJ fame—he’s only in town for a short time, and then he’ll be gone again. No harm in burning up the sheets while it lasts.

Too bad neither expected what happened next…

Excerpt:

She leaned back against the wall. “Yes. Please tell me my shoe isn’t ripped.”

As he placed her foot on his thigh, the area near the top of her shoe throbbed. “You’re not bleeding. That’s what’s important. The top of your shoe is just scuffed.” The glide of his palm down her calf left a trail of tingles that traveled to her toes, momentarily distracting her from the pain. “We can go upstairs to the table Damien reserved for his guests in the VIP section. I can get some ice from the bar to cut back on the swelling. Do you think you can make it up the stairs or do you need me to carry you?”

“You mean the VIP table you’re sharing with the blonde and the woman who was giving me the stink-eye? No, thank you.” She took her foot from his thigh.

He stood. “Damien made sure the table was large enough for us and anyone else we wanted to bring.” He lightly grasped her shoulders. “You’re with me, and I couldn’t care less how Emery feels about it. I just want to make sure you’re okay.”

Cori let the pleasure of knowing he cared about what happened to her over everything else seep through the cracks in her confidence that had appeared after her breakup with Kevin.

The way he’d walked out on her, as if she’d meant nothing to him, had left her swinging on an emotional pendulum from feeling fragile to angry. And it was so damn exhausting.

“So.” Grey looked at her from eye level. “Tell me what you want to do. Are you coming with me?”

Coming with him? Her mind went rogue with images of them between the sheets and how the first glide in of his cock used to make her tremble with need. The way he’d rolled his hips, thrusting into her slowly, deeply, then faster and faster, and—

No. That’s not what he meant. She closed her eyes, wiping away the image, but desire remained.

Those few minutes of dancing with Grey had been amazing, and so were her memories of them in bed. Would having sex with him still be that good? Not that she wanted to relive the past. What was the Breakup Bash motto? Get over one man and move on to a better one? And at the moment, Grey definitely qualified as better, and being with him fit right into her no-relationships plan. And exploring every inch of him until morning would make her very, very happy.

Cori opened her eyes. Ignoring slight pinpricks of pain in her foot, she rose to her toes and slid her arms up Grey’s chest and around his neck.

As she leaned into him, he slid his hands to her back and widened his stance. “Have you made a decision?”

“Almost.”

Her Sweet Temptation

by Nina Crespo

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Blurb:

She vows to find the right kind of guy but a tempting stranger challenges everything…

“Bad Choices” should have been Rina Tillbridge’s middle name and it’s time to turn over a new leaf. But when stuntman Scott Halsey struts onto her property for his latest film, her impulsive alter ego threatens to make a comeback. The quintessential thrill-seeking stuntman has no designs on commitment. So why are all his red flags igniting white-hot passion…and inspiring dreams of a Hollywood ending?

Excerpt:

“Tears that wouldn’t fall stung in her eyes.

The front passenger side door opened and Scott stood there. When had he gotten out of the driver’s seat? He held out his hand.

She took it and as soon as she got out, he enfolded her in his arms.

Scott’s long exhale blew over her temple as he tightened his hold. Solid strength seeped into her. “Thank you for telling me.”

Rina held her breath, waiting, but he didn’t say it. Scott hadn’t said the word she’d forced herself to nod or smile through even though it felt like a dagger in her heart. Sorry for your loss. Sorry this happened to you. Sorry, we have to operate on your leg again. Sorry, the funeral already happened. Sorry, Xavier’s family doesn’t wish to speak with you. Sorry…

She looked up into Scott’s unwavering gaze and tears escaped from her eyes. In the short time they’d known each other, he always knew what she needed to hear and how to show up for her. Even now, as she looked in his eyes, she could see that he knew.

“Scott covered her mouth with his and the loss of the past started to recede in the firm pressure of his lips. The way he boldly swept in when she opened to him conveyed what she needed to feel. Alive. And what she strived so hard to be. Authentic in who she was now and not governed by her past.

She’d confronted her worst memory, and for the first time, she felt as if she hadn’t looked into the void alone. Scott had done it with her and he wasn’t shying away or treating her differently. What they felt for each other hadn’t changed.

As Scott eased back, he stroked her cheek, searching her eyes.

Rina already knew the answer to the question in his. She was absolutely sure what she wanted. To let go and focus on now. She just wanted to enjoy being with him.

The Cowboy’s Claims

by Nina Crespo

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Blurb:

He’s discovered his leading lady

The role of her dreams: in his arms.

Chloe Daniels is determined to land the role of a lifetime. Even if she’s terrified to get on a horse! And the last thing her reluctant teacher, Tristan Tillbridge, wants is to entertain a pampered actress. But the enigmatic cowboy soon discovers that Chloe is as genuine as she is gorgeous, and he’s determined to make her his. Will this unlikely pair discover that the sparks between them are anything but an act?

Amazon | B&N | Apple | Kobo | Google | Target | Walmart | Harlequin

*****

Excerpt:

She could feel the tautness of his stomach, and her hips where aligned with his.

Was she the only one who felt it?

She eased back to look at him, and what she saw in his eyes confirmed he did, too. His palms gliding to her back and his slow lean in made her heart skip beats. Tristan’s lips touched hers and each coaxing brush of his mouth left Chloe suspended in anticipation for the next one. As his tongue swept over her lower lip, she opened up to him on a sigh.

Where their kiss at the restaurant raised more curiosity and “what if” questions, this one clarified exactly what existed between them. Undeniable desire as strong as the thunder shaking the ground underneath her feet. It dismantled the foundation of reason and obliterated warnings about obligations and responsibilities, and why she should be concerned about them.

Tristan pulled her flush against him and Chloe slipped both of her arms around his neck, losing herself in slow, decadent, bone-melting heat unfurling inside of her as Tristan teased, explored and laid claim to every curve and hollow of her mouth. She sank impossibly deeper into him.

As he swept kisses near her ear, his unsteady exhale tingled over her cheek. “Chloe?”

He didn’t need to say more. The tone of his voice said everything.

The First Rule of Hook-Ups

Breakup Bash series

by Nina Crespo

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Blurb:

Someone once told me that there are worst things than being left at the altar. Well, not many, in my experience. That was six months ago, though, and my life has moved on. Heck, I have a new job lined up and I’m leaving town.

But, I can’t deny that my love life kind of sucks.

That’s why I let my friends convince me to join them for Club Escapade’s Breakup Bash. And we might just be disillusioned enough to actually enjoy it. Last time we were here, it was for my bachelorette party. That night, I met one of the dancers – Raphael – and when he flirted with me, I almost forgot I was engaged. And there’s a part of me that never forgot him.

Now, it seems my friends have wandered off and I’m thinking about calling it a night. Until the music begins and I see Raphael, my secret fantasy, on stage. And this time, I’m definitely not engaged…

*****

Excerpt:

Raphael and Alexa have their first argument and learn how to make up.

~

She held it away. “It’s rude to take someone’s coffee.”

“Is it? What about cheating on your husband, boyfriend, or whoever that was?”

Shock and sadness momentarily shadowed her expression. “I’m not a cheater. Brad, my ex-fiancé, was.” She plunked the cup on the nightstand, whipped back the covers, and got up.

The dark brew rocked dangerously close to the edge.

Hell. He hadn’t considered the guy she was supposed to marry had turned into a jackass. Rafe set his coffee next to hers. He snagged her arm before she reached the bathroom. “I shouldn’t have made an assumption about who you were talking to on the phone.”

Alexa’s gaze remained on his chest, but she let him pull her close. Her cell phone jingled. Concern overshadowed her defiant expression. “I’d better get going.”

The prospect of engaging with whoever called had dimmed the radiance that had grabbed him the first time he’d laid eyes on her.

On impulse, he cupped her face. “Not until you accept my apology. I’m sorry.” He kissed her.

Little by little, the rigid line of her lips softened, and she leaned against him.

Warmth and sweetness saturated his mouth as he plunged his tongue into hers and conveyed what he wasn’t saying aloud. He was sorry. Sorry for trying to take her coffee. Sorry she had to leave and deal with whatever weighed her down. But he wasn’t sorry that Brad had fucked up. Did that make him a bastard right along with her ex? Rafe grasped her hips and pressed his rigid cock against her. All he had to do was free himself and glide into her softness and heat.

He’d bring them both pleasure and erase her unhappiness. She eased back. “I can’t be late.”

“I’ll make it worth your while.” He nuzzled and nipped her throat. Yeah, his intention was to enjoy one night with her and move on, but kissing Alexa was a game changer every damn time. She’d remained in his mind, ever since the first time he’d laid eyes on her. He needed to figure out why. After he got her back in bed.

Excerpt:

What he was about to do seemed crazy. He just needed to hear Sophie say nothing sexual had ever happened between them. Then he could chalk up those images as pure fantasy.

He pulled into a space, threw the gear in park, and got out. Sophie’s shocked expression alone would whip him down to size. Guilt over dreaming of her naked would replace his attraction to her. That’s exactly what he needed. A heaping pile of remorse.

Signs with numbers and arrows led him through the maze of duplexes in the courtyard. In the past, he’d followed her from work after a long night to make sure she’d made it safely home, but he’d never actually gone to her apartment before. King located the right door and rapped on it. Not that he had a good reason now.

A porch light flickered on above him. He heard movement inside. What if Sophie’s roommate answered? He’d forgotten about her. Shit. What was his excuse? A lost phone number. Problems accessing the presentation from his computer.

Sophie opened the door. Devoid of makeup, hair swept back into a ponytail, and dressed in a faded green tee and jean shorts, she radiated uncomplicated beauty. “King? What are you doing here?”

He barely squashed the need to take her in his arms and went inside. “We have to talk. Is your roommate here?”

“No. Robin’s at work.” She closed the door. “Why? What’s going on?”

“When were we together?”

“Yesterday. Don’t you remember?” The genuine concern in her expression made him feel like a cross between a jerk for thinking of her sexually and a man struggling to prove his sanity.

“No. I mean yes.” He raked his hair and pulled so hard his scalp stung. “When did we sleep together?” Shock. Laughter. An emphatic denial. He braced for them.

Sophie paled. She shrugged and brushed her bangs from her forehead. Her tell. She planned to deny what happened.

No way in hell was she getting away with that. “How long ago was it? Weeks? Days? Why didn’t you tell me?”

What’s next for Sophie and King? Pick up your copy of FORGET YOU, The Kingman Brothers and find out. Available April 16, 2018

*****

Review:

I liked Sophie (although I do think she didn’t make King work hard enough to win her back).  She’s tried really hard to resist King, knowing exactly what kind of womanizer he is.  She likes her job and crushing on him from the other side of the office door is at least something … until one night things get out of hand.  I have to admire her for standing up for herself and getting out of the situation when she needed to.  With King’s injury, though, everything changes.  She still has feelings for him and the hurt is still there but she tries her best to keep things going smoothly for now.  I couldn’t help cheering for her to go after the things that would make her really happy.

The amnesia thing isn’t as bad as might sound.  King only looses a little bit of time, just enough to make the deal they’d been working on difficult.  (It isn’t some soap opera-y thing 🙂 )  It helps to keep them together for just a little bit longer while King gets back on his feet.  It also had me feeling even more for her.  To be the only one to know what really happened but to face him every day and pretend like everything is fine … just awful.

I do wish we’d gotten a bit more about King’s relationship with his father.  Crespo gives us just enough to understand why he doesn’t get involved but I think a little more detail would have made him even more relatable.  As it is, for some, he might come off as a big of an a$$ instead of someone with issues.  He really doesn’t treat women well at all before he finally lets Sophie in.

Full of angst and drama, uncomfortable moments and difficult situations, Forget You isn’t a light and easy read.  But it does bring heat, heartache, growth, and a HEA ending.
