Zander is a charmer and he definitely won me over, working so hard to live life a little more purposefully after a near death experience. He won Shauna over too, throwing himself whole body into being a fabulous “fake” husband 🙂
And she needs all the love and care that she can get. Shauna has struggled for so long, lived with little positive attention, that she finds it hard to accept the kindness the Wickeds send her way … and being Wickeds they show up and give her all that she needs & more.
Foster once again hits it out of the park for me. I loved Zander and Shauna together – the way they bloom with each other, the way they laugh and play their way into falling in love, their strength and resilience … just so much to love here. All the way to that moment at the end leading them to their HEA moment *sigh*
Going into this you know that these two are going to take a little bit getting out of their own way. Both have issues that have caused them to feel like a committed relationship isn’t for them but fate keeps bringing them together, showing them signs that they really are meant to be. And it is delightful.
Forgetting playboy Wells Silver was supposed to be easy. If only he didn’t make it impossible. Unfortunately she’s still holding on to her old life and struggles with guilt at the idea of moving on. Wells is determined tho and works hard to break her out of the box she’s put herself in. It’s not all smooth going, and there is a lot of back & forth between them, but it is pretty low angst with no big third act blow up which I liked. We get growth, letting go, and moving to a new stage of life.
A mixture of lightheartedness and emotion and steam, Foster gives readers a delightful story for the first in her new series. Returning readers have been waiting to see Wells fall and will be happy to see some of their favorite couples again, along with a peek at who might be meeting their match soon.
(While it is technically a stand alone, I feel like their story actually started earlier and while we were given the low down on what happened during this book I think it really helped to have been there. It does give the feeling of kinda joining a story already in progress and while fun for returning readers I think that could be frustrating for some.)

I enjoyed Pepper and Clay’s story. There was a little awkward dialogue in the beginning but once we got moving all was good. They were adorable together, with each of them bringing out the good in the other – Pepper needs someone to to bring out her fun-loving side, to get her away from being all work, while Clay needs someone who appreciates him for who he is and doesn’t expect him to be “Mr. Perfect”.
But he is a pretty perfect boyfriend. He listens, observes, and pushes when Pepper needs it. He’s thoughtful in the things he does and the gifts he gives her. And how to relax. Which she does for him as well. Allowing him to remember what he loved about football and what’s important to him.
Playing Mr. Perfect is steamy, sweet, and playful. There’s not a lot of angst, drama, or miscommunication. Just a couple of moments where they let their insecurities overcome them but they are few and short.
(There are a lot of characters from a related series, with Pepper’s sisters. I’ve read some, probably not all, but I still got confused about their stories. I think if you focus on Pepper & Clay and just look at them as her siblings & their spouses it is a little easier.)

I often feel like novellas don’t do their characters justice but not this time. Would I have liked more of them? Well, yeah, but Foster does a really good job of giving us a complete story in just a few pages.
Both Brock & Cree have been crushing on each other but a misunderstanding on her relationship status has kept him from pursuing her. The time together, though, has given them an opportunity to get to know each other and for feelings to develop. That helps with being able to make it a believable novella romance.
I listened to the audiobook version of this story and I enjoyed it. The narrators are nice to listen to – Masters could read the back of a cereal box and I’d be happy – and they complement each other well. At around an hour it was a fast listen and perfect for a lead up to Valentine’s Day.
(Can stand on its own. For returning readers, there are updates on characters from the rest of the series, but I kept up just fine.)

I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure how much I was going to feel about this one. I liked Sutton but Flynn came off a little more a*hole than alphahole but I found myself quickly warming up to him. He’s gruff but he’s also smart, caring, and … good with his hands 😉 Being alone together in the jungle means that Sutton & Flynn have to address the animosity that has been brewing between each other. And face some interesting truths about feelings that are at the core of their sparks. But what does it mean when they are home again? They have a lot of reasons for what happened in the jungle to stay in the jungle but they quickly find themselves struggling to keep things separate.
I’m amused at how easily their issues are resolved, because honestly it is all so obvious, but it’s definitely a very real reaction to the situations they find themselves in. And as with all romances, it’s not about the HEA but about the journey and theirs is sexy, funny, and fun. But what else would you expect for this author?
Foster is a must read if you like dirty talking heroes who can back it up in the bedroom … and the living room … and the shower … and the sassy heroines that keep them on their toes. With this wrap up for the Steeles, she gives us hints at the possibilities of many more stories to come and I’m here for ALL of them.

Full on respect to her for being willing to give it one more shot to get what she really wants. There’s a lot at stake for both of them but it could be worth everything!
I loved this chance to see Sasha & Ezra figure things out. We’ve known since day one that they belong together, they just had to finally take that plunge. Foster could easily have gone heavy-handed on a few different aspects of their story but she balances it perfectly. There’s a delightful mix of the will-they-won’t-they push & pull as they decide how much longer they can resist the feelings between them, followed delightfully by their exploration of this new aspect to their relationship. With a very Whiskey HEA ending, of course. Can’t wait to see what comes next!

There’s a fine line between a strong heroine with an attitude & one that is just a bitch and I think that Foster does a good job here with Sable. She’s sassy, stubborn, mouthy, and confident but has a big heart under her prickly exterior, willing to do just about anything for those she loves.
