Review:
I hate to say it after the previous stories in this series but I only mostly liked this one. It’s really a couple of personal dislikes that did it – there is too much dancing around at what caused Vale to break it off with Hawke (even though we can figure it out within about 3 seconds, it isn’t stated until well into the story) and once again if they’d had some real conversations then most of the trouble could have been avoided. (I’m a little worried about their future because if this is how they handle their problems I’m not sure how they are going to deal with anything new that comes up 🙂 )
Bennett’s writing is good, as always, so it is easy to find yourself turning pages, and the characters are very interesting (outside of their communication issues), plus we get a little hint at a future story which always makes me happy. Soooo …. overall I’m going to go with good but not great, especially given what I’ve seen in this series so far. Since most likely it is just personal bias you should pick it up and give it a shot yourself – it’s getting lovely reviews on Goodreads and Amazon, so it may just be me 🙂 And I’ll definitely be reading whatever comes next because I know that Bennett has some skills with a pen!
