As he approached the far end of the parking lot, his headlights illuminated Zurieโs Mercedes in her reserved space. She was just getting out of her car.
Mace backed in beside her, turned off the engine and got out of the truck.
Lights from the porch of the guesthouse helped lessen the shadows.
Surprise and something he couldnโt place was on Zurieโs face. โMace, what are you doing here?โ
โYou forgot something.โ
โWhat?โ
โAn explanation for why you kissed me.โ
โIsnโt it obvious?โ
Not in the mood to guess or try to figure her out, he got straight to the point. โNo. It isnโt. You either liked kissing me or you didnโt. Which is it?โ
โDoes it matter? You said it was no big deal.โ She gave a shrug of indifference, but the slight hitch in her voice indicated the opposite.
โI know I said that, but I was wrong.โ Mace stepped closer to Zurie. โYou kissing me, it matters.โ
โThat kiss. It canโt happen again.โ
โIf thatโs what you want.โ
โShe closed her eyes and shook her head. โWhy did you have to follow me?โ

Her long lashes raised from her cheeks, and what they revealed took his breath away. Before he could recover, she gripped his arms and sealed her mouth to his. As she parted her lips, he glided in, tasting the desire heโd witnessed a minute ago in her eyes.ย
His heart went haywire.
Mace curved his hands to her waist, bringing her closer, and need hummed through his veins as he explored the curves and hollows of her mouth.
