A Battle Scars Novel
by Diana Gardin
He saved her life. She showed him how to live it . . .
When he sees a woman drowning, Grisham Abbot immediately leaps into action. The Navy SEAL forgets his training, his past, and the explosion that forever scarred his body and his mind. He can only remember what he was born to do. But saving Greta Owen is a complication Grisham is definitely not ready for. Sheโs stunning and gorgeousโlike sunlight after months of darkness. Yep, Grisham is so, so screwed.
Greta knows that the smart thing to do would be to run from Grisham. Heโs a wounded warrior, and his head is a big-time mess. The problem is that Greta wants to make him her mess. One kiss and sheโs completely in over her head. And if this SEAL risked himself to save her, then she must find a way to bring him back to life . . .
The blurb covers just a tiny bit of the story โ the rest of it involves Greta & Grisham deciding if they want to be together, Grisham worrying over what he will do with the rest of his life now that he canโt be a SEAL (and what it means for their relationship), and a stalker that Greta somehow finds along the way.
I really like them as a couple because they have sparks and fun and sass that work well together.ย Gretaโs issues with Grishamโs work feel realistic to me โ from a logical perspective she spends a lot of her time waiting for him to screw up so that seems a little like she makes it happen, but in that situation sheโs going to lead with her heart and so for me it is believable.ย I also appreciate how Grisham handles it and that seems true to me as well.ย I also like how he shows patience and understanding but doesnโt give up.
I do have a little concern about the business side of things (Iโm not sure the way the cases are run is all that believable and if we are going to be told out about a case Iโd like to know how things turn out J) but the stalker issue and the romance are well done.ย So overall, I am very satisfied and Iโll be keeping an eye out for others in this series.
*Even though this is part of a series it can be read on its own*
